“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness,” Colossians 2:6-7, NIV
Last month we celebrated my spiritual birthday. I received Christ Jesus as Lord thirty years ago. The above verse describes my spiritual journey very well. Things haven’t always been perfect, because I’m not perfect. I never will be in this life. But I’m thankful for the journey that He has given me. I’m also thankful for what He has planned for my future.
There is a tree in our front yard (it reminds me of something from The Hobbit). As long as we live here, it will remind me to stay rooted and built up in Him. The roots run deep, they’ve infiltrated a large part of the yard. It is definitely a focal point, and it’s one of the great things in the yard that you just can’t miss. My desire is that when others look at my life, they see the difference Christ makes in it. I want to experience the spiritual fullness Christ has to offer. He is my center, and it can’t help but be noticed. All for His glory.
