A Need for Warmth and a Prayer for Safety

Today started out sunny and beautiful. As early as 4 AM, we heard motorcycles heading toward the beach. All throughout the day, including during the church service, riders continued to zoom up the mountain. The soccer field beside our house was buzzing with both players and spectators most of the afternoon.

This lizard was looking for a spot to sun himself.

Then the heavy afternoon rain hit. The dogs whined after loud thunder claps. Birds sang loudly during the lull between showers. The sun set with an eerie, pink glow. Now it’s quite chilly.

Our need for warmth will hopefully be filled by a pot of potato soup that is now simmering, and possibly a blanket added to the bed coverings. And a prayer of safety will be lifted up for all those who may have to make their way home by motorcycle on this cold, damp night.

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1, NIV).
